Title: Commitment Chapter 6/12 Part 1
Author:
mysteriousgal11
Rating: PG-13
Pairing: TaDaiki
Genre: Fluff
Summary: Arioka Daiki has been Takaki Yuya's secretary for almost a year. He prides to his self on keeping their relationship purely professional until a business trip to Hawaii proves to be for his undoing. The heat of the sun strokes the flames of passion, and Daiki can't resist his boss. But one night they got a shocking news, Arioka Daiki, a male, got pregnant.
Chapter 1,Chapter 2,Chapter 3,Chapter 4 Part 1,Part 2,Part 3,Chapter 5 Part 1,Part 2,Part 3, Part 4.1, Part 4.2
Daiki and Takaki had finished their dinner, and were seated outside on the terrace watching the sunset behind one of the mountains. This surely had to be the most perfect place in the world, Daiki thought, and he felt sad that they had only one more day left.
He wondered whether he dared ask Takaki if they could stay a little longer, but then remembered the fuss he had kicked up in the first place. And also his mother would be expecting him! He suddenly sat up straight. How could he have forgotten his mother? How could he have spent a whole day without even thinking about her?
"Is something wrong?"
"I was thinking about my mother, wondering whether she's all right. I feel guilty now for enjoying my self." Enjoying was too feeble a word to describe the emotions that had set his body on fire. It should have been something like seventh heaven or paradise, and he was glad that the darkening sky hid his red cheeks.
"Then why don't you call her?" Takaki tossed his phone to Daiki.
Even as Takaki spoke, his own phone rang and, and as soon as he heard the panic in his mother's voice, Daiki knew that something was wrong...very very wrong..and she moved away so that Takaki couldn't overhear.
"You need to come home." said his mother urgently. "He found out where I am. He was really nasty. I've never seem him quite like that before."
Daiki felt his blood run cold. He had never heard his mother sound so worried. He knew that he must not panic, even though he wanted to! He drew in a long breath and spoke as steadily as he could.
"Of course I'll come. Try not to worry, I'll speak to Takaki-san. I'll be there as soon as I can."
He spent a further few minutes tryingto pacify his mother who had a weak heart. Daiki knew how dangerous it was for her to get worked up like this, and he needed to daw in a few more deep breaths himself before returning to Takaki's side. His heart was racing all over the place.
Takaki's dark eyes were questioning as he looked at him. "Is something wrong? You've gone very pale."
"My mother's not well. I need to go home." He couldn't tell Takaki the truth because it would be embarassing to admit tothis man that his father had tricked them in such a way. Knowing Takaki as he now did, the latter might want to do something about it. They would then be in his debt. And did he really want that?
The answer was a resounding no. Besides, once thet got back to Japan their intimate relationship would be over. He was sure of it, convinced of it. Takaki hadn't made hima ny promises. Far from it! Daiki was certain that Takaki wouldn't want to carry on their affair under the noses of his staff. No, a line would be drown under the whole affair. It would be back to business as usual. Telling Takaki about their debt would be a huge mistake!
He would need to treat these last few days as nothing more than a pleasant memory. An overwhelming memory! More than overwhelming, actually, but he could think of no other words to describe what had happened to him. At least he would have memories. Totally amazing memories that he would hold forthe rest of his life.
"I'm sorry. Of course you must go." Even as Takaki spoke, he was on the telephone, and in what seemed like no time at all they were on their way to the airport.
The good thing about being with Takaki was that he got things done easily. Money talked, thought Daiki.
"What's happening to your mother?" Takaki asked him now, genuine concern on his face. "Is she in hospital?"
Daiki shook his head, unaware that his eyes were shadowed and his face so drained of blood that he looked ill.
"She has a weak heart and among other things she suffers panic attacks, really bad ones. A legacy from my father. I'm afraid." None of this was a lie, she's not making excuses to avoid the truth. "She needs me. I should never have come away. I blame myself for this. I..."
"Daiki!" Takaki took his icy cold hands into his. "You mustn't blame yourself. Everyone needs a break at some time. Perhaps you should get someone in to help with your mother? I'd be willing to..."
"NO!" Daiki almost shouted in his need to stop what he was saying. Involving Takaki in their family affairs was the last thing he wanted. Both he and his mother were too embarrassed by what they saw as their failings to want anyone to witness it, let alone a man who paid his wages!
If they had stood up to his father all those years ago, been brave enough to walk out on him, then none of this would have happened. But they hadn't, and now they were forced to face the consequences.
And the man they owed money to was becoming more and more demanding, more frightening with every visit. Daiki was giving him practically every penny of his salary and it still wasn't enough. It was hard to believe that he has found out where his mother had gone.
If he hadn't thought his parent would be safe with his Aunt Keiko, he would never have agreed to got Hawaii in the first place. Even if it cost his job! The man had no conscience. He didn't care who he frightened so long as he had enough cash to fund his extravagant lifestyle.
During the flight Takaki respected Daiki's wish to remain silent, even though he didn't understand it. His attempts to talk to Daiki had led him to nothing, and he hated to see the latter so deeply troubled. He would be worried.too if it was his mother, and he could understand Daiki's distress, but he did wish that he would let him in so he could talk his fears through him.
Instead, Daiki sat upright, his eyes staring into space, his mind on whatever lay ahead. Takaki would be there for him, he determined. He would give him any help he needed. If Daiki's mother needed hospital treatment then he would arrange it, pay for it, even.
Although he didn't want it to happen, Daiki had got through him like no other person ever had. He hadn't planned, didn't even want a permanent relationship, but something had happened. Daiki had opened a triny crack in his heart and Daiki's pain was now his pain.
"Are you sure there's nothing I can do, Daiki? I could phone ahead and arrange for..."
"NO!" The word was immediate amd loud, and then Daiki said. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to snap, but I'm used to my mother's attacks. She'll be all right once I'm there."
"If you're sure? Because..."
"I'm sure." Daiki replied, his eyes flashing seriousness.
Takaki felt sad at the loss of the beautiful man he had found, the man who had given himself so willingly. Who had transformed himself from someone plain and introverted into someone beautiful and outgoing. He had retreated back into his shell and Takaki had no way of knowing what was going through the latter's mind.
"If there is anything I can do, " Takaki said again. "you know you have only to ask."
"I know." Daiki's voice was quiet once more. "And thank you, but we'll be all right."
It was as though Daiki didn't trust him, as though the latter wanted to hide something from him, and he couldn't understand why. He would have expected him to welcome his help after the time they had spenttogether, the closeness they had shared and enjoyed.
When the plane touched down he heard Daiki on his phone, calling a taxi.
"Daiki, please, let me take you. It will be so much easier. I have a car waiting."
But Daiki immediately shook his head. "I need to cope wit this on my own Yuya."
Daiki saw the shock on Takaki's face but he had to do this. He didn't want Takaki knowing anything else about his private life. He had refused even to think about the word help, as it brought with it feelings of both shame and hope.
